Missing University Of Maryland Student Found

University of Maryland Police announced late Wednesday that critical missing student Dilan Ashar, 22, has been found.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Critically missing student Dilan Ashar, 22, has been found, campus police announced late Wednesday.

Asher, 22, was last seen around 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 2 on a security camera at Terrapin Trail Garage near the Xfinity Center in College Park. Authorities first searched that site, then, around noon on Oct. 3, launched a drone to conduct an aerial search in the wooded area near the garage. Later that night, a K-9 team conducted a track search in that wooded area.

On Oct. 4, around 50 responders and nine K-9s searched approximately 110 acres surrounding the garage in the morning. Later that day, they launched the drone again to search the university golf course. Officers have checked parking garages, wood lines, Lake Artemsia and nearby parks.

Asher was last seen wearing a black University of Maryland sweatshirt with gray sweatpants and white shoes. He stands 6'2 with dark hair.

"Thanks to the immense efforts of UMPD and our entire community, Dilan has been reunited with family. We thank all Terps and community members who spread the word and supported this search," university police stated.

The family of critical missing University of Maryland student Dilan Asher spoke out on Wednesday, asking people to help look for him.

"Dilan, we love you so much and we hope you are safe. We want you home," his mom, Binita Ashar, said in a video pleading for the public's help in finding their son. "We are waiting for you."
