More Than 1,000 Without Power in PG County as Winds Sweep Through Area

Pepco is working to get a handle on an outage in the Clinton area.

CLINTON, MD — As gusting winds blow through the Washington, D.C. area, Prince George's County utility Pepco is reporting a significant power outage in the Clinton area as of Monday morning.

With wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour Monday along with heavy rain, power outages will be a risk for the whole region. At 8:52 a.m., Pepco reported a power outage affecting 1,383 customers along Branch Avenue near Andrews Air Force Base.

Pepco said the cause of the outage was "under evaluation" and projected that power would be restored by 11 a.m.

UPDATE: As of 4 p.m. Monday, Pepco's outage map showed that most outages had been cleared up with only a handful of homes that were without power.
