New Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Named For Prince George's County
Prince George's county executive named a new assistant chief administrative officer who took office May 8.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — James Chandler has been appointed Prince George's County's new assistant deputy chief administrative officer for economic development. He assumed his new role May 8.
“With Mr. Chandler’s background, knowledge, and expertise, we are confident that he will further support our administration’s economic development goals and our vision to grow our county in a smart way. We remain committed to ensuring Prince George’s County will thrive for generations to come," said County Executive Angela Alsobrooks in her announcement.
Chandler previously served as the assistant city administrator and director of community and economic development for Hyattsville. In this role, Chandler led the city’s revitalization and economic development initiatives, including the rebranding of Hyattsville Crossing, establishment of its commercial façade improvement and corridor investment programs, and adaptive reuse of the city-owned facility that now serves as home to Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center.

Prior to his work with the city of Hyattsville, he served as the community development block grant program coordinator and supervisor of program development for the office of housing and intergovernmental affairs within the Nassau County Economic Development Department.
“I am so appreciative for the opportunity to join County Executive Alsobrooks’ administration,” Chandler said. “I look forward to working with the county’s dynamic economic team led by DCAO Angie Rodgers and assisting our efforts to deliver on the vision for the Blue Line Corridor.”

Chandler is an International Economic Development Council Certified Economic Development Professional and has served as a member of the Maryland Economic Development Association, International City Managers Association, the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area, Metro Washington Council of Governments’ Region Forward Coalition and the Urban Land Institute, Prince George’s County Local Product Council.
