Officials broke ground Monday on an 80,000-square-foot, 5-story building in Greenbelt that will replace the aging Cheverly Health Center.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Construction will begin soon on a new health center for Prince George's County that will replace the aging Cheverly Health Center.

Officials gathered Monday for a groundbreaking ceremony. The 80,000-square-foot, five-story building to be located at 9001 Edmonston Rd. in Greenbelt will allow the county to expand its vaccinations and public health services while offering storage and meeting space, plus an office area.

“We are Prince George’s Proud to officially break ground on our new, state-of-the-art health center, marking yet another important step forward for Prince Georgians’ health,” said Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks. “Our goal is to offer our residents new opportunities to receive care close to home and build the kind of healthcare infrastructure this community deserves. This new building is another step forward in our administration’s strategy to improve the health of our residents, and we want to thank all of our partners who helped make this new health center possible.”
