Obama to Campaign in PG County for Brown

Heads up Bowie area drivers: President Obama will be in Upper Marlboro Sunday to encourage Democrats to vote early for governor.

Plan for gridlock on some area roads Sunday: President Barack Obama will make a campaign stop in Prince George’s County to rally supporters for Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown’s gubernatorial campaign.

The White House says the president plans to visit Upper Marlboro Sunday afternoon to rev up voters for the close race. Early voting starts Oct. 23 in Maryland and runs through Oct. 30.

Brown, who is trying to keep the governor’s job for the Democrats, was 7 points ahead of Republican Larry Hogan in a recent poll for The Baltimore Sun.

A recent Washington Post-Un­iversity of Maryland poll gives Brown a nine-point lead over Hogan. Registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by more than a 2-1 margin in the state.

On Sunday, Obama will join Brown and Maryland lawmakers at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro to encourage Marylanders to cast their ballots early, the Post says.

The rally is free but requires a ticket, which can be reserved on Brown’s campaign website or by calling 240-667-2321. Doors open at 2 p.m.
