Officer Exchanges Gunfire with Fleeing Suspect in Capitol Heights: Report

Police were responding to a report of a fight when the suspect pulled a gun on the officer, according to a report.

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD — A Prince George's County police officer reportedly exchanged gunfire with a man during a foot chase in Capitol Heights.

The Washington Post reports that police were sent to the 900 block of Kayak Avenue at around 9 p.m. Saturday night in response to a call of a fight, and when they arrived they found out someone had been robbed.

An officer spotted the man, who ran, prompting the officer to chase after him, according to the report. At some point, they exchanged gunfire. The officer wasn't hit, and it's not clear if the suspect was hit either.
