Officers Involved in Fatal Suspect Shooting Identified
Two Prince George's County Police officers are on routine leave after they fatally shot a suspected carjacker.

Authorities have released the names of two Prince George’s County Police officers involved in a car chase and fatal shooting of a suspected carjacker.
Police Officer Christopher Malinowski and Police Officer Anthony Sciaretta are both on routine administrative leave while Monday night’s shooting is investigated. Both officers are assigned to the Bureau of Patrol.
Malinowski joined the department in 2013, while Sciaretta is a six-year veteran, officials said.

The county officers exchanged gunfire with the fleeing suspect in the 2800 block of Gainesville Street SE, The Washington Post reports. The unnamed suspect was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Prince George’s County Police were called to a home in the 200 block of River Bend Road in Fort Washington for a reported armed carjacking. The suspect demanded money from the victim, who was then hit with a gun before the carjacker sped off in the victim’s car.
Police pursued the carjacked vehicle into the District of Columbia, where the two Prince George’s County officers fired their service weapons. Two Forest Heights Police Officers were also at the scene.
The department has launched a routine, internal investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
