"The Russells’ have put the challenge out to other World Champions to take the time and hand-pick their team of youth amateur boxers ages 12 - 17," the statement reads. "Every participating World Champion would mentor and co-train their team with the goal of bringing these groups together and compete. There are a lot of talented youth boxers who are yearning for the chance to take their boxing skills to the next level."
Gary Antuanne Russell won his first two matches in the light welterweight category at the Rio 2016 Olympics this summer, but came just short of medaling after falling to the eventual gold medal winner in a controversial split decision.
