One Killed, One Injured in Bowie ATV Accident
Authorities say a man and a woman were unlawfully riding a four-wheeler on a Bowie trail early Monday morning.

A late-night ATV ride on a Bowie trail resulted in a crash that killed a man and sent his companion to Shock Trauma with head injuries, authorities say.
The crash was reported about 2 a.m. Monday involving an off-road four-wheeler in the 8700 block of Race Track Road in Bowie, said Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady. He said there was one fatality and the second rider suffered life-threatening injuries.

NBC 4 reports the crash happened at the Washington Baltimore and Annapolis Trail off Race Track Road. A nearby resident called 911 after hearing screams.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to the hospital with serious head injuries.

Motorized vehicles are not allowed on the trail, according to signs in the area, NBC 4 says.
Prince George’s County authorities have not released the victims’ names.
Maryland-National Capital Park Police are investigating the crash.
