Oxon Hill School Bus Stop Shooting Suspect ID'd, Turns Self In: Report
Police warn that 42-year-old Roland Eugene Simms is armed and dangerous.

OXON HILL, MD — Police have identified a man who they say fired a gun at a woman near a school bus stop, sending 15 elementary school students fleeing for their lives.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for 42-year-old Roland Eugene Simms for attempted first degree murder, reckless endangerment, first and second degree assault and other related charges, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

Simms approached a woman who was standing at the school bus stop at around 7:12 a.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Chester and Winthrop streets, and then started arguing with her, the report states.
"After a brief verbal argument which turned physical, Simms pulled out a gun and shot the victim," it adds. "The victim is being treated at a local hospital."

Police describe Simms as a black man standing at 5'8" and weighing 210 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
None of the children were injured in the incident. Police warn anyone who sees him not to approach him, and to call 911 instead.
