PG County Bomb Squad Called to Check Package
About two dozen homes in Fort Washington were evacuated as a precaution; the package has been rendered inoperable.

The all-clear has been given to residents in a Fort Washington neighborhood after the bomb squad was called to investigate a suspicious package, which triggered evacuations.
Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady said via Twitter that the package was found in the 2400 block of Steuben Avenue. The county’s bomb squad and other agencies responded.
As a precaution, Brady says, about two dozen homes were evacuated near the suspicious package.

The bomb squad rendered the package safe and inert, about 1:30 p.m., he said. Analysis, evidence collection and investigation into the package’s contents continue.
