PG County Man Standing In Road Killed By Tractor Trailer: Police

Lincoln Carroll, 58, of Fort Washington was laying in the road when he suddenly stood up and was struck by the truck.

CLINTON, MD — A Prince George’s County man was killed overnight when he was struck by a tractor trailer while standing in the middle of the road, according to police. Lincoln Carroll, 58, of Fort Washington was standing in the middle of the right lane at the time of the crash.

Police received a call at approximately 11:45 p.m. about a person lying in the road at Branch Avenue (Route 5) south of Surratts Road. While responding to the call, police received another call that a pedestrian was struck by a tractor trailer.

According to police, Thomas Talley, 34, of Virginia, was operating an International Tractor Trailer in lane 3 when Carroll, who was lying in the roadway, suddenly stood up in front of the truck and was struck. The driver of the tractor trailer immediately stopped and remained on scene during the investigation. Carroll was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges against the driver are expected and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the crash should call the Maryland State Police Forestville Barrack at 301-568-8101.
