PG County Mounted Police Train for Huge Trump Inauguration

Local police will assist the U.S. Park Police in crowd control as hundreds of thousands descend on the National Mall soon.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD — The 2017 Presidential Inauguration of Donald Trump may be taking place on the National Mall in D.C., but it will require the help of authorities in PG County, and local police mounted units worked with the U.S. Park Police this week to prepare for crowd control during the inauguration.

PG County mounted units, along with units from Montgomery County, trained with the Park Police on Wednesday for the looming inauguration, practicing crowd control maneuvers and other techniques at the Marlboro Ridge Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, according to a statement from Prince George's County.

The Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Prince George's County Division consists of 117 authorized sworn personnel, as well as 29 civilian employees and about 40 volunteers. The Maryland-National Capital Park Police as a whole are tasked with protecting about 27,000 acres of park property in PG County.
