PG County Named the Most Democratic County in Maryland: Report
The county voted overwhelmingly for Obama in 2012, and looks likely to do the same for Clinton this year.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A lot of states are up for grabs in the 2016 presidential contest between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, but one state that's not in play is Maryland, whose 11 electoral votes will almost certainly go to Clinton on Election Day Nov. 8 -- and a lot of that is thanks to Prince George's County, which has been named the most Democratic county in an already Democratic state, according to a report from 24/7 Wall Street.
The site notes that PG County residents overwhelmingly voted for President Obama in 2012 to the tune of 90.1 percent of the vote, the third highest share of any county nationwide and definitely the largest share in Maryland.
"In addition to casting a ballot for Obama in 2012, the county has historically been represented by Democrats in the House and Senate, and the 114th congressional session is no exception," the site notes. "Sens. Ben Cardin and Barbara Mikulski and Reps. Donna Edwards and Steny Hoyer, both of whom represent districts within Prince George’s County, are Democrats."
