PG County Schools Make Weather Decision For March 22

BREAKING: After the largest snowfall of the season leading to the cancellation of classes Wednesday, here's the decision for Thursday.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD -- Prince George's County public schools will be operating on a two-hour delay Thursday after snow hammered the D.C. region.

PGCPS announced a "Code Orange" for Thursday, March 22, which requires that all emergency personnel report to work on time, but schools and offices open two hours late.

These additional stipulations are in effect:

  • There will be no work-study transportation. (Those students should not report to school.)
  • There will be no half-day Early Childhood Center (ECC), half-day Special Education Programs, or half-day PreK.
  • Any other school program requiring transportation prior to 12 noon will NOT have transportation, including Howard B. Owens Science Center, JA Finance Park, and William S. Schmidt Center (Camp Schmidt)
  • All field trips will be cancelled.
  • Food Services will offer breakfast.

PGCPS will reevalute the situation at 6:30 a.m.
