PGFD Field Medics Help Redskins Quarterback

Local medics sprang into action when QB Alex Smith went down with an injury Sunday.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD -- It was not a good day for Washington Redskins Quarterback Alex Smith, who went down with a gruesome leg injury during Sunday's game, but Prince George's County personnel was there to help him through it.

Smith was injured in the third quarter of Sunday's loss at home against the Houston Texans, and the Redskins have since announced he will have season-ending surgery.

PGFD spokesman Mark Brady tweeted images from the scene. They immobilized Smith's lower leg and carted him off the field, "providing the very best in pre-hospital emergency care possible," Brady said.
