D.C. Man Impersonates ICE Officer, Sexually Assaults Hispanic Woman: Prince George's PD
A D.C. man has been arrested in connection to the impersonation of a U.S. ICE agent and sexual assault of an Hispanic woman in Oxon Hill.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 26-year-old Washington, D.C., man has been arrested and charged after police say he impersonated a federal law enforcement agent and then sexually assaulted a woman in Oxon Hill.
On June 13 at approximately 8:15 p.m., detectives were notified of a sexual assault that had just happened in a shopping center parking lot in the 5400 block of Saint Barnabas Road. A preliminary investigation revealed Victor Antonio Reed approached an Hispanic woman as she walked through the parking lot. Reed displayed a badge and identified himself as an agent with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and instructed her to get into his car or face deportation. Once inside his vehicle, Reed sexually assaulted her. She eventually was allowed to leave Reed’s car and call for help, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.
Detectives identified Reed as the suspect and he was taken into custody following a traffic stop in Temple Hills on June 15.
Reed has been charged with first- and second-degree rape, impersonating a law enforcement officer, a firearms offense and additional charges.
ICE ERO Baltimore Acting Field Office Director Darius Reeves stated that, “ICE ERO Baltimore takes a victim-centered approach to immigration enforcement in order to facilitate access to justice and victim-based immigration benefits by noncitizen crime victims. Absent exceptional circumstances, ICE will refrain from taking civil immigration enforcement action against victims of crime who come forward with pertinent information.”
