Police Offer Self-Defense Training for Women

The Bowie Police Department provides Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) courses this month.

Women can start the new year off right by keeping resolutions to stay healthy and learning how to protect themselves by enrolling in a Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) course offered by the .

According to a release from the city, two RAD courses will be offered this month at the Kenhill Center, located at 2614 Kenhill Dr., from 6:30–9:30 p.m. on the following days:

  • Monday evenings, starting Jan. 23
  • Wednesday evenings, starting Jan. 18

The course offers five classes of "realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women," and is not a martial arts program, according to the release. In addition, courses are for women only and taught by nationally certified RAD instructors.
