Police Release Name of Woman Killed in Crash with Tow Truck

The Prince George's County Police Department has released the name of the woman who died in a Dec. 18 wreck in Fairmount Heights.

Police have released the name of the woman killed last week when her car crashed into a tow truck.

According to the Prince George’s Police Department, the victim was Lashawn Childs, 29, of Hunt Place in Northeast Washington.

Officers were called to the intersection of Sheriff Road and 61st Avenue in Fairmount Heights Dec. 18. They found Childs with critical injuries from a crash involving a car and tow truck, PGPD reports. The victim was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities had withheld the victim’s name until family members were identified.

Investigators found that a tow truck was stopped at 61st to make a left turn when the victim, traveling westbound on Sheriff Road, crashed into the back of it.

The tow truck driver and his passenger were not injured.
