Police: Why Was Man Lying in Road?

The 50-year-old Clinton man was fatally struck by an SUV; Prince George's County Police are seeking answers.

Prince George’s County Police are trying to determine why a man was lying in the road before he was fatally struck by a vehicle on Saturday.

The deadly pedestrian collision happened in the 5800 block of Allentown Road in Camp Springs. The victim is Calvin Whitting, 50, of Goblet Drive in Clinton.

Police were called to the accident about 9:45 pm. Saturday. When they arrived, the officers found Whitting in the roadway; he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities say Whitting was lying in the road before an SUV heading westbound on Allentown Road struck him. The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
