'Prince George’s Goes Pink' Initiative Launched For October Breast Cancer Awareness

Numerous events have been planned as part of the Prince George's Goes Pink initiative launched for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Officials have launched a Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiative, “Prince George’s Goes Pink,” aimed at educating residents on breast cancer symptoms, early detection and treatment, as well as promote the various programs and resources available to those impacted by breast cancer in the County.

“We are so proud to officially launch our Prince George’s Goes Pink initiative, because breast cancer is a disease that has impacted far too many county residents personally, including my own family,” Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks said. “Prince George’s County has the highest mortality rate of breast cancer in the state of Maryland. This is an alarming statistic and something that we must work together to change. That’s why we are making a concerted effort this year to bring greater awareness and education to breast cancer this month, because it will ultimately help us save lives.”

Prince George’s Goes Pink is a collaboration between the county government and various community partners and organizations dedicated to serving those impacted by breast cancer. Throughout the entire month, the county will host more than a dozen education, prevention and awareness events and activities in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Residents can learn more about Prince George’s Goes Pink (PGGP), find a list of events, and register for any event by visiting the PGGP website at mypgc.us/PGGP.
