Prince George's County Public Schools No Longer Opening

School system made decision based on weather.

UPDATE: Prince George’s County Public Schools announced that schools and offices are closed Tuesday.

Only emergency personnel should report to work.

Because public schools are closed today, there will be no Kids’ Care (school-aged child care and pre-school) programs at M-NCPPC facilities.

All Department of Parks and Recreation facilities are open.

Previous report—All schools and offices will open with a two-hour delay on Tuesday, according to an announcement from Prince George’s County Public Schools.

Emergency personnel must report to work on time and are not eligible for liberal leave, the school system’s announcement said.

The following programs are canceled Tuesday:

  • All field trips
  • Half-day Early Childhood Center
  • Half-day special education programs
  • Half-day prekindergarten
  • Work-study (no work-study transportation so students should not report to school)
  • Any other school program requiring transportation before noon will NOT have transportation, including Howard B. Owens Science Center

Breakfast will still be served Tuesday morning, the school system reported.
