Prince George's County Schools Make Jan 5 Weather Decision

BREAKING: Prince George's County Public Schools officials have announced plans for Friday, Jan. 5.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD -- The snow may be over but the cold has moved in, and Prince George's County Public Schools will be closed on Friday, Jan. 5, officials said. The school system issued a Code Blue so all schools and offices are closed, while Central Offices will open two hours late. All 12-month personnel are expected to report. A Liberal Leave policy will be in effect for non-emergency personnel.

Initially the school district had planned to start two hours late on Friday, but reassessed conditions Thursday night. All school buildings were closed Jan. 4.

While snowfall has ended, the cold temperatures have not. On Friday, people should bundle up. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory that includes Prince George's County. Temperatures will feel like 0 degrees to 15 below zero.
