Prince George's Teacher Hit By Car At Crash Site, GoFundMe Set Up

A GoFundMe has been set up for a Prince George's Public Schools special ed teacher who was injured helping others involved in a car crash.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — After a special education teacher for Prince George's County Public Schools was hit by a car while trying to help two people who were involved in a crash, a GoFundMe has been set up to help his family with medical bills.

Nick Brown, who lives in Olney with his wife and four children ages 3, 5, 7 and 10, has worked in education for 20 years and also as a driving instructor. On March 12, Brown was driving home when he witnessed a car accident. Because he's trained in first aid, Brown jumped out of his vehicle to help the crash victims, his sister wrote on Brown's GoFundMe page.

While calling 911 from the safety of the sidewalk next to the crash scene, another driver smashed into one of the two vehicles involved in the initial crash. Debris flew and rained down over Brown who was standing there on the phone with 911.

"Miraculously, he was not killed by the second crash and was taken to the hospital, where he spent the night. Thankfully, he is now recovering at home and is in good spirits," Brown's sister, Priscilla Rajan wrote. "Nick has injuries to his face and head, having received stitches across half of his face. The extent of his injuries are still unknown and he is still being evaluated. What is known is that he will be unable to return to work in the near future. His family will face hardship until he is able to return to both jobs in his full capacity."

"Nick's family is in this situation because Nick went out of his way to help others in need. Please help us show Nick that good deeds do not go unnoticed, by helping his family in this difficult time," she added.
