Rap Artist Kealo Killed at Video Shoot

Prince George's County Police are trying to determine if a prop gun shooting of the DC artist was an accident or intentional.

An aspiring rap music artist from Washington, D.C., was shot and killed Wednesday night when a prop gun was fired during the filming of a music video.

The Prince George’s County Police Department says Keaway Lafonz Ivy, 21, of 18th Street in Southeast Washington was fatally wounded.

The Seat Pleasant Police Department was called about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 400 block of Eastern Avenue for the report of a shooting. Officers found Ivy in a parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

WJLA TV reports that Ivy, a popular YouTube artist who used the rap name Kealo, died near 62nd Place and Eastern Avenue in Seat Pleasant on the scene of a rap video shoot. Sources told WJLA that Ivy and up to 20 people were shooting the video when a gun being used a prop was fired; Ivy was hit and killed.

Police are questioning witnesses as they try to determine whether it was an accidental shooting or intentional.

Detectives are working to identify the motive and suspect in this case, the department said.
