Resident Shoots Through Front Door to Wound Burglary Suspect
The family dog gave homeowners a heads up that someone was trying to enter the front door; the resident shot the suspect through the door.

TEMPLE HILLS, MD – A homeowner shot through a front door and wounded a burglar who had pried open the outer door early Wednesday, police say.
The Prince George’s County Police Department says the armed encounter happened just before 2 a.m. in the 3900 block of Brinkley Road in Temple Hills.
Officers found the suspect with gunshot wounds to his legs; he was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that are not considered life threatening.

The family dog alerted two residents to a noise at the home’s front door. When the saw that the suspect had already forced open their storm door, one called 911 while the other homeowner grabbed a gun and fired. Police say the resident shot the suspect through the front door.
Investigators say there appears to be no connection between the victims and the suspect. Detectives will consult with the State’s Attorney’s Office to determine what charges will be filed against the suspect.

Authorities have not released the names of the homeowners or the injured suspect.
