The Huffington Post says these national chains are open, but check locally before you get in the car: Applebee’s, Buca di Beppo, Buffalo Wild Wings, Denny’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, Golden Corral, IHOP, McDonald’s, Panda Express, Perkins, Pizza Hut, Ruby Tuesday, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Sonic Drive-In, Starbucks Coffee, Subway, Waffle House.

Here are a few you may want to check out:

Bond 45 - National Harbor, 149 Waterfront St. in Oxon Hill: The steak and seafood eatery will offer its regular menus; prices begin at $50 generally.

The Common - College Park Marriott, 3501 University Blvd. E., Hyattsville: Sample a menu created with locally made pasta and herbs from an in-house garden, as well as beer, wine and spirits from local area brewers, vintners and distilleries.

Fiorella Italian Kitchen, 152 National Plaza in National Harbor, Fort Washington: Italian cuisine, including its signature thin crust pizza and the house specialty, the Fiorella Lasagna, plus fish served four ways – Livornese, Calabrese, oven roasted or simply grilled.

Grace’s Mandarin, 188 Waterfront St., National Harbor: The Asian dining spot is known for its sushi.

Ichiban Sushi Asian Bistro, 3921 Evergreen Pkwy., Bowie: Expanded Asian menu includes a larger appetizer section with a duck crepe, a crab meat moneybag (crab meat and cream cheese tied in a wonton bag, served with thai sauce and grand marnier sauce). The chef’s selections include rack of lamb and crispy shrimp and chicken.

McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood - National Harbor, 145 National Plaza, Oxon Hill: Dinner menu includes an oyster bar, fresh fish, steaks, and a few pasta and seafood dishes.

Public House - National Harbor, 199 Fleet St. in Oxon Hill: The dinner menu offers comfort food from prime steaks and chops to chicken and waffles along with shrimp and grits and burgers.

Rosa Mexicano - National Harbor, 153 Waterfront St., Oxon Hill: Mexican-spiced holiday specials; specific menu not posted.

Sauciety, 171 Waterfront St., National Harbor: Christmas prix fixe menu offered at $52 per person. Starts are lobster bisque, cucumber wrapped mixed greens or salmon duo of house cured gravlox and smoked salmon mousse; main entrée choices are toast loin of venison, lemon sole, grilled filet mignon or truffled pheasant risotto, plus dessert.

Succotash Restaurant, 186 Waterfront St., National Harbor: Christmas brunch menu offered from 10am-3pm. A la carte additions featuring glazed ham and roasted duck. Parties of six or more will be offered a family style feast for $49 adults and $24 kids.
