School Calendar Change Next Week to Make Up Snow Day

Prince George's County Public Schools students will have to go to school a day next week they didn't plan to.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Last month’s week of missed school following the blizzard has prompted a change in the calendar for Prince George’s County Public Schools.

On Thursday the Prince George’s County Board of Education approved a revision to the 2015-16 school calendar that will make Friday, Feb. 12, a regular school day for all staff and students.

The day had been scheduled as a professional development day for teachers.

The change was made due to the six inclement weather days that were used Jan. 21-29 during the blizzard and its aftermath.

While the existing calendar currently has built in four snow days, this request will assist the school system in limiting the number of days added to the end of the school year.
