School Shooting Challenge On TikTok Prompts Police To Take Action, Monitor Situation
A TikTok challenge apparently encouraging school shootings Friday has led the Prince George's Police Department to monitor the situation.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Posts circulating on the social media app TikTok suggesting that school shootings will take place nationally on Friday as part of a new "challenge" has drawn the attention of Prince George's County officials and police.
The Prince George's Police Department has confirmed that it is aware of the post and will be monitoring the situation.
"As always, we encourage anyone who sees anything suspicious to please report it," the police department stated.

WBFF reports authorities said the original TikTok challenge was for students to skip school on Dec. 17. At some point, the challenge was changed to a school shooting threat.
According to some reports, the December challenge is one of several in a string of monthly challenges stemming from the social media platform.

In September, another challenge called "Devious Licks" encouraged acts of vandalism to be carried out at schools. Students and TikTok users shattered mirrors, stole soap dispensers, fire alarms and football field turf, and intentionally clogged toilets, all while filming the antics to post on TikTok.
