Name of Slain Security Guard Released; Second Wounded Guard Expected to Survive

Prince George's County Police say it appears two guards were targeted; they were in their cars doing paperwork when they were shot.

UPDATED at 2:15 p.m.

One security guard was killed and another was wounded early Friday when they were shot in Capitol Heights in what seems to be a targeted attack, authorities say.

Prince George’s County Police said the guard who was killed is Adrian Kinard, 26, of Queen Street in Northeast DC. Kinard died of his injuries at a hospital.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered in connection with this case.

The second guard’s injuries were not life-threatening, police said. No name has been released for the injured guard.

Prince George’s County Police received a report of the shooting about 1 a.m at the Central Gardens Apartments , 5 Cindy Lane.

The surviving security guard suffered gunshot wounds to his lower body, police said via Twitter.

Authorities said it appears the guards were targeted. The victims were each shot while at their personal cars parked at the complex, police said.

The shooting suspect fled in a black Dodge Charger.
