Shooter In Quadruple Murders Sentenced To Multiple Life Terms
A Prince George's County man has been sentenced in the murders of 4 people. Authorities say he didn't know the victims and questions remain.
UPPER MARLBORO, MD — A Prince George's County man was sentenced Thursday to serve five consecutive life sentences, four of which are without the possibility of parole, for killing four people and the attempted murder of another. Lawrence Rogers Jr., 28, of Capitol Heights, also received 100 years for five counts of use of a handgun in a crime of violence, and 15 years for illegal firearm possession. Twenty-five years of that time are mandatory, according to a news release from the state’s attorney.
In June 2016, Rogers went to a home on Orleans Avenue in Forestville and shot Carlina Gray, 50; Jan Parks, 55 and Allen Rowlett, 60. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were critically wounded and taken to a hospital. The fourth homicide victim, Harold Williams, 65, died months later, prosecutors said.
Rogers was convicted of a total of 17 charges including four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of second-degree murder on Sept. 27.

“This horrific and heinous crime committed by Mr. Rogers is a blatant disregard for human life. There is no indication that he knew the victims and there are still unanswered questions for the families,” said State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy in the news release. “While there is no consolation for this tremendous loss, we believe that justice was served today. This hefty sentence illustrates that we will protect our community from individuals like him. We can now rest in knowing that this violent man will never walk the streets of Prince George’s County again."
Braveboy thanked the surviving victim who identified the shooter and the Prince George’s County Police Department.
