UPDATE 3:59 p.m.: The shooting began as an "altercation" between two cars on Old Silver Hill Road that continued on Suitland Parkway where gunfire broke out, according to Fox 5 DC reporter Anjali Hemphill. "Man got out of one of the cars and ran across road and was shot," she tweeted.

UPDATE 12:13 p.m.: More than 44 shell casings were found in the area of Suitland Parkway, and the shootings came from at least two cars, according to Fox 5 reporter Anjali Hemphill. One man was hit in the stomach and was taken to the hospital.

SUITLAND, MD -- Suitland Parkway has been closed in both directions following a shooting in the area, according to a report.

Fox 5 DC reports that police and emergency crews are on the scene after a shooting was reported near the intersection of Suitland Parkway and Silver Hill Road.
