Six Flags Site Bought By NBA Star Kevin Durant
Prince George's Co. Executive Aisha N. Braveboy announced Wednesday that MD native and NBA star Kevin Durant has bought Six Flags.
BOWIE, MD — NBA star and Prince George's County native Kevin Durant's investment company 35V has bought the former Six Flags amusement park in Prince George's County.
35V teamed up with TPA Group for the purchase, which was announced Wednesday by Prince George’s County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy.
The site originally opened in 1974 as a drive-thru safari known as The Wildlife Preserve. The site evolved over the years before opening as Six Flags in 1999. It closed in November 2025.

“We are excited about the vision, energy and opportunity this new ownership team brings to the former Six Flags site,” Braveboy said in a statement. “This is a major step forward for Prince George’s County and a meaningful opportunity to elevate this property into a destination development that reflects the expectations of our residents and strengthens economic development in our county.”
Braveboy said she will co-host several engagement events with the new owners to allow residents a chance to speak out about their expectations of the site and to keep everyone informed of future plans.

“Our residents deserve to be part of what comes next,” Braveboy added. “We look forward to working with the new ownership team and with the community to help create a destination and attraction that residents can enjoy, experience and take pride in for years to come.”
Durant grew up in Seat Pleasant and for the 2026 season was transferred to the Houston Rockets.
He was drafted second overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007 and was named NBA Rookie of the Year Award. He helped lead the Golden State Warriors to consecutive NBA titles in 2017 and 2018, winning Finals MVP both times. Durant has been a member of gold-medal U.S. mens' basketball team in four Olympics.
He founded 35V with longtime agent and business partner Rich Kleiman. 35V is the family office of Durant, home to investments in more than 100 startups, KD’s personal brand and business deals, and the Durant Family Foundation. 35V also is a sister company to Boardroom, a multi-faceted sports, media and entertainment company. TPA Group is a real estate investment firm based in Atlanta.
