Slain Toddler Suffered Multiple Fractures And Widespread Bruising, Dad Charged: PGPD

An Oxon Hill father has been charged in his 2-year-old son's death after he was found with multiple fractures and widespread bruising.

OXON HILL, MD — A Prince George's County father has been charged in connection to the death of his 2-year-old son.

On June 9 around 3:40 a.m., Prince George's police officers were called to an apartment in the 5400 block of Livingston Terrace. They found Kayceson Barkley unresponsive with multiple injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy done on Sunday found the child suffered multiple fractures, widespread bruising and hemorrhaging. The medical examiner reported some of the injuries were inconsistent with an accident. Pending additional testing, the medical examiner will determine the specific cause of death.

The preliminary investigation determined the toddler's father, Lance Harrison, had sole care and custody of his son at the time the fatal injuries occurred. In consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, Harrison has been charged with first-degree child abuse resulting in death and related offenses.
