A search of his vehicle found no illegal contraband, but police say Lee was sought on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for a driving without a license. His driving privileges were suspended at the time of the accident.
A trooper tried to stop Lee about 1 a.m. Thursday in the area of Route 301 and Acton Lane in Charles County, but Lee refused to stop his 2005 Toyota Scion, according to state police. Lee reportedly drove through a red light and turned onto Acton Lane, continuing westbound and accelerating to elude the trooper. After losing sight of the Scion, the trooper came upon Lee’s vehicle on Acton Lane, where it had struck a utility pole and overturned.
