Storm Brings Down Bowie Gas Station Canopy
The Shell station isn't selling gas today after strong winds tore down a canopy over gas pumps.

A Shell station manager in Bowie had to run for cover when Tuesday’s fierce storm ripped the metal canopy off the gas pump area.
WTOP reports the gas station at 13200 Laurel Bowie Road isn’t selling gas Wednesday because of the damage.
The manager told WUSA that he hit the emergency shut-off switch to the pumps and called the fire department. There was no fire, and no injuries were reported; the station is open 24 hours a day.

Although no gas is being sold, the station’s repair shop is open for business.
The canopy crashed about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday as “the rain was coming sideways,” the manager told WTOP.
