Suicide in PG County Jail Prompts Investigation: Authorities
Authorities say the man had been taken to the jail the day before on a first degree assault charge.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Authorities are investigating an apparent suicide at the Prince George's County Department of Corrections.
Correctional officers found a 30-year-old male inmate unresponsive in the medical unit bathroom at around 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, according to a statement from the county.
The correctional staff and emergency response team performed CPR on him, but he was pronounced dead at 1:14 p.m.

"Prince George’s County Police are conducting an investigation and the Department of Corrections has begun its internal investigation to insure policies and procedures were properly followed," the statement notes. "The Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy which is procedural following any in custody death."
Authorities say the man was placed in the facility the day before on a no-bond status on a first degree assault charge.
