Suspect Arrested In Connection To 21-Year-Old's Fatal Shooting: Prince George's Police

A Lanham man has been arrested and charged in connection to the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old Laurel man, police say.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 20-year-old Lanham resident has been charged in connection to the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Cameron Smith of Laurel.

On July 21 at approximately 1:10 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 13300 block of Edinburgh Lane in the unincorporated section of Laurel. The victim was found outside with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police.

Information provided to Prince George’s County Crime Solvers assisted detectives with the investigation. A preliminary investigation revealed Yair Medina shot Smith during a dispute. The suspect and victim knew each other. Medina has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and related charges.
