Suspect Barges Into Apartment With Large Knife, Assaults Resident: Police

Greenbelt police officers are investigating a home invasion and first-degree assault after a suspect forced his way into an apartment.

GREENBELT, MD — Detectives are investigating a home invasion and assault that happened Monday night.

The incident unfolded at a home in the 6200 block of Springhill Court around 8:34 p.m.

Investigators with the Greenbelt Police Department disclosed that the suspect stayed outside the home for more than an hour before forcing his way into the apartment while carrying a large knife.

The suspect has been described as a male wearing a black New Balance hooded sweatshirt, light blue jeans, black and white shoes, a blue surgical-style face mask, and a black ski mask rolled up on top of his head.
