Suspect Charged In Laurel Fatal Shooting
A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in Laurel this past summer.
LAUREL, MD — A 48-year-old Laurel man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in late July in Laurel.
On July 25 around 10:20 p.m., Prince George's police officers were called to the 13200 block of Laurel Bowie Road for a report of a shooting. They found 33-year-old William Denard Askew of Greenbelt in the road with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Police stated that it isn't clear if the suspect and victim knew each other and the motive continues to be investigated. Officers have arrested 48-year-old James King IV of Laurel and charged him with first- and second-degree murder, as well as related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
