Suspect In Fatal Shooting Sentenced

The suspect charged in the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Kevin Moscoso-Lopez of Adelphi has been convicted and sentenced.

ADELPHI, MD — The suspect arrested and charged in the May 2024 fatal shooting of 20-year-old Kevin Moscoso-Lopez of Adelphi has been convicted and sentenced.

On May 15, 2024, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Prince George's police officers were called to the 1900 block of Erie Street for a report of a shooting. They found Moscoso-Lopez outside with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation showed that Erick Pineda of Silver Spring shot Moscoso-Lopez during an argument. They knew each other, police determined.

Pineda was arrested, charged and has been convicted of voluntary manslaughter and use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence.

Pineda has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, the maximum sentence allowed, the county attorney stated.
