Suspected Shooter Arrested In Riverdale Teen's Death: Prince George's Police

Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a 17-year-old Riverdale boy that happened in February.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 27-year-old Hyattsville man has been charged in connection to a fatal shooting of a teenager that happened in February.

At approximately 12:40 a.m. on Feb. 11, Prince George's police officers were called to the 7200 block of Parkwood Street in Landover Hills for a report of a shooting. They found 17-year-old Daiwo Flomo of Riverdale inside a car with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the shooting had happened at the intersection of Fairwood Road and Parkwood Street just outside the town of Landover Hills. Following the shooting, the victim, who was driving a car, drove to the 7200 block of Parkwood Street where he crashed. The suspect, Charles Edwards, followed the victim’s vehicle in order to confront the occupants who had just approached the suspect as he sat in his car. While following the victim’s car, the suspect opened fire, striking and killing the victim. The suspect and victim were not known to each other, police disclosed.

Edwards has been charged with first-degree murder and additional charges.
