Suspects Arrested In Connection To Laurel Man's Fatal Shooting: Prince George's Police

Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the shooting death of a Laurel man and face murder charges, Prince George's Police say.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Police have arrested two suspects in connection to a murder that happened Friday in Fort Washington.

On Oct. 27 at approximately 4 p.m., officers with Maryland-National Capital Park Police were called to a park in the 2300 block of Old Fort Road for a report of a shooting. Officers found 30-year-old Desmond Thomas of Laurel outside with gunshot wounds and a stab wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene. A second man also was shot. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, police reported.

The suspects are 54-year-old Kenneth Elwood Smith of Fort Washington and 18-year-old Lamont Scott of Fort Washington. A preliminary investigation indicates the suspects fatally assaulted Thomas during an argument. The suspects and victims were not known to each other.

Smith has been charged with second-degree murder and related charges. Scott has been charged with first-degree murder and related charges. Anyone with information about this case who would like to speak to a detective can call 301-516-2512.
