COLLEGE PARK, MD — A Target store in Prince George's County is among four U.S. locations expected to close in coming months, according to reports citing an announcement by the Minneapolis-based retailer.

The Target store at 7501 Baltimore Ave. in College Park will close May 13, a spokesperson told DC News Now. Other locations slated for closure are in Falls Church, Virginia, Minneapolis and Philadelphia.

All four locations are small stores designed to reach shoppers in urban areas, according to a Business Insider report. Company officials cited declining foot traffic as the reason for the closures, according to Insider.

"The decision to close one of our stores isn't something we take lightly," Kayla Castañeda, a spokesperson for Target, told Insider. "It's an action we take only after multiple years of working to improve performance."

Most employees will be offered jobs at different locations, Castañeda told Insider.
