Teen, 18-Year-Old Charged In Carjacking Death Of Man, 18: Prince George's Police

A 17-year-old and an 18-year-old have been charged in connection to the fatal shooting of a Forestville man during a carjacking, police say.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A teenager and an 18-year-old have been charged in connection to a fatal shooting of an 18-year-old that happened in May in Forestville.

On May 11 at approximately 6:35 p.m., officers were called to a parking lot in the 2300 block of Ritchie Road. They found 18-year-old Kendall Batson of District Heights with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was shot during a carjacking. The victim and suspects were not known to each other.

Lavelle Harris, 18, of Washington, D.C., has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, armed carjacking and related charges. A 17-year-old boy from District Heights has been charged with conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree murder, armed carjacking and related charges.
