Teen Charged With Arson in Laurel House Fire
Prince George's County fire investigators say a 16-year-old set fire to a vacant Laurel house on Aug. 2.

A teenager has been charged with arson for allegedly setting fire to a vacant house in Laurel, according to Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department.
Firefighters were called to a house fire in the 13700 block of Engleman Drive in Laurel about 8:10 p.m. Aug. 2. Fire and EMS crews found a vacant, two-story single-family home with fire showing from an attached garage. The fire was extinguished soon after crews arrived.
Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be incendiary.

The county fire marshal on Monday charged a 16-year-old boy with first-degree arson, second-degree arson, reckless endangerment and trespassing.
If found guilty, these charges potentially carry a maximum penalty in the juvenile court system that could keep the suspect in a juvenile facility until he is 21 years old.
