PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — An 18-year-old in Prince George's County was found not guilty Friday in last year's shooting death of a 16-year-old girl near DuVal High School, according to multiple reports.
Abdurahman Diaby was acquitted of first-degree murder following a week-long trial in the death of 16-year-old Jayda Medrano-Moore, WTOP reported. However, the jury found him guilty of several other charges including first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and using a firearm in the commission of a violent crime.
Medrano-Moore was fatally shot outside the school in Lanham on Sept. 11, 2023, according to an NBC Washington report. Witnesses said she was trying to defend her brother and take a gun from Diaby when she was shot.
