UPPER MARLBORO, MD — A Maryland state trooper was injured when her patrol vehicle was struck on the Beltway Saturday morning responding to another accident, state police say. The initial accident was reported about 6:20 a.m. on the inner loop of I-495 and Maryland Route 4 near Upper Marlboro.
Trooper Jasmine Ingram arrived at the scene and saw that a vehicle had left the road and struck the guardrail. Before Ingram could get out of her patrol vehicle, which was on the highway's left shoulder, a Toyota Corolla went off the road and struck Ingram’s vehicle.
Trooper Ingram was taken by ambulance to the Prince George’s Hospital Center for medical evaluation. Authorities said she is in stable condition with no life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla — Karhonda West, 37, of Florida — did not ask for medical attention. While the crash is still being investigated, alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in this collision. Charges are pending, state police said.
There were no injuries in the initial crash that Ingram responded to, which was investigated by other members of the Forestville Barrack.
