PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Families are invited to a watch party and discussion about the documentary "Angst!" that focuses on managing anxious feelings. Hosted by Bowie Youth & Family Services, the virtual screening will be Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The event is part of Children’s Mental Health Matters month, a statewide public health campaign aimed at bringing attention to the mental health needs of Maryland children and teens.
The documentary raises awareness of anxiety and normalizes how families and friends can approach this issue. While most individuals experience some level of anxiety as a part of life, the documentary notes, but for some people, anxiety can be a debilitating mental health issue that disrupts day-to-day life and prevents them from doing the things they enjoy.
The film includes interviews with kids, teens, educators, experts, parents and a special interview with Michael Phelps. The goal of the documentary is to help normalize the conversation about anxiety and mental health.
