Weather Decision From PG County Public Schools For Feb 5 2018

BREAKING: Schools will operate on a modified schedule in Prince George's County on Monday, Feb. 5.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Public schools in Prince George's County will open late on Monday, Feb. 5. School officials made the announcement Monday morning and cited icy conditions on roads and walkways.

Both schools and school offices will open on a two-hour delay on Monday, Feb. 5, according to Prince George's County Public Schools. Field trips are canceled.

Food services will offer breakfast.

Work-study transportation, half-day prekindergarten, half-day early childhood center and half-day special education programs are canceled on Monday, Feb. 5; these students should not report.

Any other school program that requires transportation before noon will not have transportation, Prince George's County Public Schools officials said.

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Monday morning alerting drivers that roads may appear wet while in reality they are icy. People should give themselves extra time to get to their destinations and exercise caution on the roads, weather officials advised.
